A Millimeter-Wave Antipodal Linearly Tapered Slot Antenna Array for 5G Wireless Communication

This paper presents an antipodal linearly tapered slot antenna (ALTSA) array with the newly emerging substrate-integrated coaxial line (SICL) technology. Each element of proposed consists two vertically stacked antennas (TSA) inner conductor a SICL as shared fin. The vertical symmetry this radiating structure significantly suppresses cross-polarization level. By employing SICL-based power splitter differential outputs, two-element horizontal is formed. With conductors parallel SICLs combined flaring metal by adjacent slots, main beam squint effectively suppressed. Experimental results show actual −10-dB impedance bandwidth (BW) 24.5∼34.4 GHz, and realized gain range measured 16.1∼18.7 dBi. levels are −39.4 dB/−40.7 dB at 30 GHz for E-/H-planes. agree well simulated data which demonstrates feasibility ALTSA scheme in potential 5 G·millimeter-wave (mmWave) applications.
